College kids in the San Jose area and beyond await for federal financial aid through the year after a fresh application form has been released months later while being filled with various technical glitches.
When in regards to student aid, the fresh FAFSA form itself is well-known as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, but it seems to be not landing well with the students as this time because the form had been launched later than usual. Instead of October 2023 they launched it in December 2023.
So of course, the application would come with way too many problems, such as how the website would only work for some portions of the day through the beginning weeks.
All while students had been kicked out in the middle of the process. And yet, there are parents that are incapable of accessing the forms. Beyond twenty issues were reported while plenty more keep on with a lack of resolve.
The Education Department would state the new FAFSA as a simpler application process that could spread eligibility for financial aid, with beyond 600,000 students being able to qualify for a federal Pell Grant, which is well known in the collegiate society as an award that doesn’t quite require payment.
As of February 16th, there isn’t even a quarter of high schoolers in the San Jose area that were able to finish the application. But FAFSA submissions seem to rate as down by beyond 41% all according to the National College Attainment Network.
Plenty of applications would be submitted all over the United States all while being indicative of a drastic drop in contrast to the year before. Of course, this could be the first time in beyond four decades of the federal aid application. Such changes had been made after the Congress would pass legislation around three years ago to streamline the FAFSA, all as the formula is meant to calculate federal financial aid all as it was reworked with the application utilizing beyond 100 questions which themselves can be narrowed down to only 36.
