Water Department of San Jose Water (“SJW” or “the Company”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJW Group (NYSE: SJW) announced it has received funds from the California Water and Wastewater Arrearage Payment Program (Program). It is administering by the State Water Resources Control Board. Therefore, it was funding by the American Rescue Plan Act. Also, the funds are intending to help support customers who experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19. Yet they were unable to pay their water bills from March 4, 2020, to June 15, 2021.

“Also, we really do appreciate the efforts of the California Legislature and then Governor Gavin Newsom are establishing this important program. In fact, the State Water Resources Control Board is administering it. Moreover, our goal does remain to support our customers. Then to really assist them through this unprecedented time.”
In 2021, San Jose Water did request $9.7 million in relief for the customers within its service area. Also, in early February 2022, the full amount has been receiving. Also, the company is also going to credit customer accounts shortly. Customers who receive arrearage relief is going to be notified by mail and see the credit will be reflecting on their bills.

For customers with past due balances beyond June 15, 2021, San Jose Water offers flexible, interest-free payment plans. The Company also offers a liquid Rate Assistance Program (WRAP) which provides a discount to customers that qualify.
