The Lotus brand has been prominent about promoting the Type 131. This vehicle is known as the Emira. And guess what? It’s not electric. That’s right, it’s a car with conventional gas powertrain in place. It happens to follow-up to the all-electric Evija. This is fascinating as there is no evident electrification in this vehicle. Furthermore, this vehicle will be the one from which all EVs will follow. As the beginning of a new era in vehicles continues forward.
Within the long debate of Lotus vehicles-to-be still up for discussion, including Elise, Exige and Evora, the Emira differs in that it will share qualities with it’s EV equivalent.
Such as huge hoopish fixtures and stacked headlights. These are from the Evija. Additionally, the Emira is also going to have qualities unique to it’s exact architecture. This is due to the vehicle spanning from about $60,000 to $120,000. Lotus is likely to assemble at least five thousand of these vehicles every year. The grandest likelihood is that the Lotus Emira is going to be such a vehicle that will have powerful engine options. The Toyota powertrain-using company will be prominent.
The four platforms are in exclusive partnership for Hethel within Geely brands. This however, may also be unavailable to non-Geely brands. The Emira is going to be built on the Sports platform, which will use the signature aluminum extrusions that Exige and Evora has already used themselves. The outgoing platform is known as the Hypercar one. The Premium platform is very different from the sports cars that the company has been making at the same time. Lotus is hoping that the chassis will be useful for upscale active lifestyle vehicles for global consumption. This is what the company believes, though it can’t see it in many words. There is likely a plan to move into the SUV space.
