SAN JOSE, California – The DMV expands its Saturday working hours to more DMV field offices starting from tomorrow. In an attempt to get more Californians the DMV services they need (but maybe don’t want), the state is adding manpower and hours to a few of its offices. After all, Californians really need to get their REAL IDs before the rapidly approaching deadline comes!

In California, across the state, there are over 60 offices that will be open every Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Fourteen of those offices are located in the Bay Area and now those offices will include Daly City and Hayward.

The recent long lines are because of the implementation of REAL ID. People can’t get those online or through the mail. They have to show up at a field office.

Last month the DMV opened up the San Jose Driver License processing center and the Oakland Claremont field office an hour earlier during the week, except Wednesdays, to help cut down on the long lines.

Wednesday 9:00 am till 5:00 pm

While the DMV is working on hiring more employees to help, it is better for you to make an appointment. After all, there’s no guarantee just how many people have the same idea as you as the same time. Without an appointment, there’s a chance that you’ll wind up waiting a long time for your service. So plan ahead with an appointment before you go!
