SAN JOSE – According to San Jose police a man was shot and wounded because of gunfire in one of the business intersections of San Jose on Tuesday afternoon.
According to San Jose police, the shooting was reported at 12:52 p.m. on southbound Capitol Expressway at Tully Road. Someone in a car occupied by several people opened fire at a car carrying the victim and many other passengers according to an early investigation.
Sgt. Enrique Garcia said that the wounded man was rushed to a hospital, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening,
Police said in a statement. “The motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation. No suspects have been identified or apprehended.”
Southbound Capitol Expressway was narrowed to one open lane while investigators examined the crime scene Tuesday afternoon. Police advised motorists to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
The intersection where the shooting happened sees some of the highest traffic volumes in San Jose. Eastridge Mall is situated near the southeast corner of the intersection, and the other corners are occupied by car dealerships, a shopping plaza, and Reid-Hillview Airport.
